Photos: 30 Years After Gas Leak Disaster, Suffering Continues in Bhopal

In the early morning hours of Dec. 3, 1984, a gas leak occurred at a pesticide plant run by Union Carbide in India, resulting in one of the worst industrial accidents in history. Flooding Leaves Canadian Indigenous Group Homeless—For Over 3 Years

In 2011, the Manitoba government diverted high water levels on Canada’s Lake Manitoba into Lake St. Martin to save urban and agricultural land from flooding, but inundating a 140-year-old native reserve. Photographer Michelle Siu spent a year exploring the post-flood life of Lake St. Martin First Nations evacuees, who have been without a permanent home for over three years.
